Key Responsibilities
Hydraulic System Design & Engineering:
- Design and engineer custom hydraulic circuits for industrial applications.
- Select appropriate hydraulic components based on functionality, price, and availability.
- Conduct hydraulic calculations to optimise system efficiency and performance.
- Develop hydraulic test procedures and factory acceptance tests to ensure system reliability.
HPU (Hydraulic Power Unit) Design & Documentation:
- Create and manage HPU design drawings, manuals, and technical documentation.
- Work with AutoCAD, Hydrosym, and Inventor to produce:
– Hydraulic circuit diagrams
– General arrangement (G.A.) drawings
– Fabrication drawings
– Assembly manuals
- Ensure all designs adhere to customer specifications and industry standards.
Compliance & Industry Standards:
- Ensure designs comply with relevant hydraulic and safety standards, including:
- BS EN ISO 4413:2010 – Hydraulic fluid power safety requirements
- Pressure Equipment Directive (PED)
- CE marking regulations
- ATEX directive for hazardous areas
- Maintain up to date knowledge of compliance regulations to ensure all systems meet required standards.
Troubleshooting & Testing:
- Conduct hydraulic fault finding and hydraulic testing to diagnose and resolve system issues.
- Perform factory acceptance testing (FAT) and oversee on-site commissioning as needed.
- Provide technical support to customers for troubleshooting and optimisation.
Qualifications or Experience:
Essential:
- Proven experience in hydraulic system design, applications engineering, or fluid power solutions.
- Strong knowledge of industrial hydraulics, including circuit design, component selection, and calculations.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD & Hydrosym for circuit design, and Inventor for 3D modeling.
- Experience preparing technical quotations and proposals.
- Ability to interpret customer specifications and technical drawings.
- Solid understanding of industry standards and compliance requirements (ISO, ATEX, CE, PED).
- Project management experience, overseeing jobs from design to commissioning.
- Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
Desirable:
- Degree, HND, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Fluid Power, or a related field.
- Knowledge of hydraulic manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with hydraulic pumps, valves, actuators, and filtration systems.
- Experience working within a B2B technical sales environment.
- Understanding of basic electrical principles related to hydraulic systems.
